An important amendment to the conditions applicable to representatives working under supervision was announced in Board Notice 260 of 2013, published on 19 December 2013.
Readers may recall that there was some uncertainty about the final deadline, which was later clarified. Representatives working under supervision had until 31 December of the year in which they concluded two years of service in which to write the Level 1 regulatory examinations.
The new requirement reads:
“The representative must successfully complete the relevant first level regulatory examination by 30 June after the expiry of 24 months from the date of first appointment as a representative;”
There is nothing sinister about this. It merely makes provision for the fact that examination bodies close mid-December, which could place those who may not have passed before then in a very difficult position.
