The Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has approved an increase of 4% in the maximum monthly fee payable to healthcare brokers. The increase applies retrospectively from 1 January 2025.

The adjustment means that, in terms of Regulation 28(2) of the Regulations issued under the Medical Schemes Act, the maximum fee for introducing a member to a medical scheme and providing the member with ongoing service or advice is the lesser of:

  • R121.84 plus VAT a month; or
  • Up to 3% plus VAT of the contributions paid.

The previous limit was R116.74 plus VAT a month.

The new cap was published in the Government Gazette on 3 February 2025.
