The Minister of Health has approved an increase of 5% in the maximum monthly fee payable to healthcare brokers. The increase applies from 1 January 2024.
In terms of Regulation 28(2) of the Regulations issued under the Medical Schemes Act, the maximum fee for introducing a member to a medical scheme and providing the member with ongoing service or advice is the lesser of:
- R116.74 plus VAT a month; or
- Up to 3% plus VAT of the contributions paid.
The previous limit was R111.18 plus VAT.
The new cap was gazetted by the Minister of Health in December 2023.
