A big financial institution advised their advisors, quite correctly, that those appointed in 2011 have until the end of 2013 to write and pass the level 1 REs. A number of people misinterpreted this as meaning that it applies to those who entered the industry before then.
Please note that there has been no such extension. Those who are liable to write and pass before the end of March 2013 still has to comply with this requirement.
