A reader recently enquired about the validity of the regulatory exams in view of all the pending new legislation.
“Will my RE1 and RE5 certificates still be valid when the new Twin Peaks legislation comes into effect?”
The new laws will not be implemented overnight. It will be phased in over time. As this happens, changes to the questions in the regulatory exams will be made to ensure that new entrants understand the legal requirements pertaining to them.
The first changes are envisaged for implementation in April next year. It may be wise to try and write before then, PROVIDED YOU ARE READY TO DO SO.
Once you have passed, you will be expected to keep up to date with legislative changes applicable to you as part of the proposed new Continuous Professional Development requirements.
Your RE status cannot be taken away from you.
