Your clients cover their valuables under a short-term insurance policy as it gives them the needed financial security against loss or damage. Many claim rejections and Ombud cases have revealed that clients sometimes don’t uphold their end of the deal. As a result of incorrect information and not updating their details policies have been declared invalid. In many cases this is the result of not understanding the operating provisions of the policy.
The Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance recently published a few consumer tips that would be a valuable download for both you and your client.
Some of these include:
● | Remember to provide the correct details about the regular driver or the nominated driver. |
● | Update your risk address should you move house. |
● | Provide the insurer with true and complete information to enable the insurer to correctly assess the risk. |
● | It is important to disclose your full insurance history when taking up a new insurance policy. |
● | Do not use the insured vehicle for business purposes if this was not declared to your insurer. |
